90You'll find below some tips and recipes for the Dukan Diet. The information provided will help anyone already on the diet or who is thinking about starting Dr Pierre Dukan's highly successful weight loss formula the Dukan Diet. This diet is based around the principles of eating a diet which is low in fat and carbohydrate but high in protein.

Dukan Diet Tip 2 - Use Spices to Spice up your Food
Dukan Diet Tip 1 - Be prepared and think ahead.
It is important to drink a lot of water each and every day, and buying bottled water can be very expensive so if you need to drink tap water but like it cool from the refrigerator you need to keep a couple of jugs full of water in your fridge.
You also need to make sure you will have enough water to drink when you are away from home. If you don’t know whether or not you will be able to get water you will need to carry your own water with you.
Dukan Diet Tip 3 - Be organised and keep temptation at bay
If possible stock your fridge, kitchen cupboards and shelves with the correct foods for the stage you are at.

Anyone with medical problems of any nature should see and consult a doctor before embarking on any diet or exercise program and even if you have no known health problems, it is still advisable for you to consult your doctor before you make any major changes to your lifestyle.
Dukan Diet Tip 4 - Pick your time.
The Attack Phase although short is quite extreme as you will only eating protein for between 2 and 10 days. So If you suffer from PMT, or regular migraines try to avoid starting your diet at this time. Also if you will have an extremely stressful period at work or at home try to wait until things are a little calmer and don’t start your diet immediately following an illness as you must give your body time to recover.
Plan your Attack Phase for a time when it will be easy for you to eat just protein. It might be worth taking a few days off work.
Tip 6 for the Dukan Diet - Drink Plenty of Water
Dukan Diet Tip 5 - Don’t go Cold Turkey
You may experience Carb cravings during the protein only Attack Phase. Reducing the level of carbohydrates you eat in the three or four days preceding the start of the Attack Phase
.
Dukan Diet Tip 7 - Plan for trips away or eating out
If you are in the Cruising Weight Loss Phase and need to travel but will only be away for up to five days adjust your pattern so that you eat Proteins and Vegetables while you are away as this will be easier. This planning ahead will also help if you are going out for a meal.
Tip 9 for the Dukan Diet - Use Mustard to add Variety
Dukan Diet Tip 8 - Enjoy your food
If this diet and lifestyle plan is going to be successful you will be following it for the rest of your life. If you aren’t enjoying what you are eating you are going to find sticking to this diet very hard. In the early stages this may need some effort and creativity but remember that you can use vinegar and all herbs and spices freely as well as a small amount of mustard.

Recipes
As I said you will need effort and/or creativity or a little help from your friends or from wherever you can get it to give yourself the greatest chance of success. I must admit that I don’t think I would have ever thought of using grilled flat mushrooms as the bun for my burger.
Following the Dukan Diet doesn’t mean that yummy desserts are the thing of the past as I found a very easy recipe which you can flavor differently to ring the changes.
Yummy Dukan Dessert (for four people)
- 6 free range egg yolks
- 16 fl oz fat free/skimmed milk
- ¼ tsp cornflour
- Artificial sweetener
- The flavoring of your choice such as coffee or vanilla
- Add the cornflour to the egg yolks and whisk well
- Gently heat the milk in a saucepan and add your flavouring and sweetener of choice
- When the milk is warm add the egg mixture and keep stirring until the mixture thickens sufficiently to stick to the back of the mixing spoon
- Pour into the individual dishes or dish of your choice
- Place in the refrigerator until set.
Dukan Diet Recipe - Rich and Creamy Hot Chocolate
I also found a quick and delicious recipe for Hot Chocolate.
Rich and Creamy Hot Chocolate
- 1 heaped tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 heaped tablespoon of fat free/skimmed milk powder
- Artificial sweetener
- 1 mug of fat free/skimmed milk

Thanks for the tips!
This sounds like a very interesting diet to go on. I like the idea of doing something for the rest of my life, if it works. I can not wait until there is no stress going on in my life because I live a very fast paced life. I am going to give it a try any way. Thanks for the tips.
Never even heard of the dukan diet, thanks for putting it in such detail :)
I hadn't heard of this diet either. It is basically the protein diet huh? Sort of like Atkins?
Hi, Amber. I really enjoy these recipes. I really care all about diet topic. And I found it again through this hub. Special recommendation for us.
I've never heard of this diet, either. Good advice to check with your medical professional before going to any extremes.
now on day 12 of this diet and have already lost 5.2 (11.4 lbs) kilos and it is great! Not the least bit hungry, thanks to creative ways of eating the oat and wheat bran every morning---totally psyched as the the big results so fast keep me very very motivated! read the whole book before starting and it all makes total sense, especially the 'rest of your life' parts! love it and already love the surprised looks from friends!

Bless you so much for your great content. Here is the kind of stuff that keeps me ready through the morning. I've already been exploring all around for this kind of website under advice from a colleague and was proud right after I found it after searching for a while.
I am starting this diet next Monday! Fingers crossed. I have found alot of recipes on the internet for it so jsut got to stick to it now.
Started the Dukan Diet attack phase yesterday, had lost 2 pounds this morning. Never felt hungry yesterday, think this is one I can really do!!
Its exciting to read the comments on the results people are getting with the Dukan diet and all without feeling hungry or deprived. Congrats to all on their diet success with the Dukan diet!
Hi Amber,
I and my hubby are on this diet and its our 3rd day. However, I get cravings for my brewed milk tea with sugar and I feel tired by the end of the day. We both get strong cravings for carbs by the end of the day. However, we are still sticking with the diet. Hope we lose the desired amount of weight. Also, I luv your recipes. Gonna try them. :)
I have tried this diet once about 3 months ago for 3 weeks and lost about 10kg, fell off the wagon but have gotten back on.
Suprisingly I only gained 500g from what I lost so it was easy enough to keep off. Have been on Attack Phase for 2 days and lost another kilo. Planning on a 10 day attack this time.
There is also a nice website http://www.mydukandiet.com/recipes/index.html to get some recipes - had the porridge this morning, talk about yummy. I will have to try the Hot Chocolate from here tonight though. Thanks for the extra advice, now I just have to convince the other 4 people in the house to go on it.
Thank you for the great recipes and tips. I will have to look in to this further
I started the diet on 2.23.11 and in 5 days I have lost about 9 lbs. I still feel great and am making sure to eat just the foods that are allowed in the attack phase. I am starting the cruise phase on Monday. I really don't feel like it's too hard to follow the rules of the diet, and I honestly don't think that it will be that hard to follow I mean eat almost anything you want 6 days a week and then just protein on Thursdays!!I have 35 lbs to lose total and can't wait until its all gone!
On day one of Attack! Any recipies to keep me motivated?? Found a recipie for dukan diet bread, but not sure if I can have this on the attack plan! Any ideas most appreciated x
Hi Amber!
I love your page! It is soo helpful. Do you have any tips for eating out during the attach phase?
Thanks!
Can one eat organic light agave nectar during the attach phase;
Hi Amber,
I have read Dr Pierre Dukan's book and am on day 6 of the attack phase. I have only lost 200 grams so far (thought would have lost more) and am wondering if the no fat yogurts are to blame. The book says they are fine but all of them have sugar or at least I've not found any fat free AND sugar free yogurts. Do you know of any in Australia that are suitable. Or perhaps I'm just being impatient and the weight will fall off in a big drop soon. I'm keen to know because I'm REALLY trying to lose weight. Hope you can help,
Letitia
Hi Amber,
Appreciate the feedback. I've not been having anywhere close to a kg and only the fat free no added sugar or the plain and add stevia which I have with my oat bran (which I really enjoy). So guess am on the right track and must not be impatient. Upped my walk from 20 min to 40 this morning on this the last day of "Attack" phase. Thank you again. I will keep reading your very helpful web page.
Letitia
Hi, I've now been on the cruise phase for 7 days following a five day attack phase and have lost 8lb. I'm really pleased with the result so far and it's been surprisingly easy. I ensure I have fat free Greek yoghurt and fat free fromage frais ready in the fridge and if I need a chocolate fix I add a teaspoon of good quality cocoa powder and sweetener to either one which makes a lovely pud. I also have boiled eggs ready in the fridge in case I get the munchies but thus far I've not gone hungry. Another benefit I've found is I feel a lot more energetic and my skin appears a lot clearer. I'm definitely sticking to this diet. :0)
I have just finish my attack phase and now about to start the cruise. I have a doubt about cauliflower and pumpkin. On the book it doesn't mention on the cruise phase but is there on the recipe for that phase. Can I add them or not ?
Many thanks
Amber,
Can you please HELP me... I did the attack phase for 5 days and know into day 3 of the cruise phase but still only lost 2pounds. Can you please tell me why I didn't loss more weight? I did everything the book said tho do. thanks
is it ok to take a vitamin b supplement while on attack phase?
thanks Amber, i'm on day 4 and enjoying the wieght loss 4kg so far, and not feeling hungry. it's been very encouraging reading this forum and picking up tips
di
In cruise phase and traveling so much so it just isnt possible to find protein everywhere-Ive eaten all my zero sugar protein bars this trip (delays etc) Just ate a bar with 11g protein and 10 g sugar (its the lowest I could find on my pp day) what to do in future? I think it had to be smarter than full fat cheese, right?
Amber - enjoying your site. Just purchased the bood and about to start attack phase. Is fat-free half and half allowed in coffee or must I use skim milk. Thanks
I just mixed a heaped tsp of curry powder and 1/2 tsp splenda into about half a cup of yoghurt, then dolloped some on top of a chicken breast. Gorgeous! And lots left to use tomorrow (with some prawns for lunch perhaps?) Thanks for having such a great site Amber, so this is my contribution.
Hi Amber, Just started day one of the cruise phase. After six days on attack phase I have lost 6 lbs. Sugar free Jello is listed as an allowed food on the cruise phase but are all of the flavors okay, ie lime or black cherry? Also, should quantities be limited. Thank you for your help.
I started Dukan 5 wks ago. I have lost between 8 & 9 lbs. I would like to lose about 6 or 7 more, but am having a hard time. You must exercise or it won't work.
Hi Amber
Thanks so much for all the information,I am not a big meat eater and am on day 5 of the attack phase, would I be able to have a protein shake as well? Thanks bron
Hi Guys,
Just wondered if anyone can help - I've been eating pure protein as directed for the last 7 days and appear to have lost virtually nothing, when I stood on the scales after the first 2 -3 days I'd lost around 4-5 lbs but appear now to have put most of that back on yet i've done absolutely nothing differently or wrong to my knowledge, i've also been counting my calorie intake and tracking online and have been eating under 1000 kcals per day so surely by proxy I should be losing?? Any ideas / suggestions anyone had the same thing? Driving me mad. I weigh around 121 lbs .. want to be 100 or less and have no issue with will power if i'm seeing the result but this is now just a tad depressing.. may as well eat!
(nb: I drink the rda of water if not more)
Any ideas???
Thanks,
Hayley
Hi Amber,
It's so nice that you share so much useful information and tips to help keep people encouraged and motivated on the Dukan diet.
Hi all.
This diet works, my best friend had lost 17 kg since september, I saw her today wow could not belive that. She looks really great. Now is time for me :) wish me luck, have to lose about 15-20 kg
Thank you for sharing your ideas and tips. I'm on day 5 on the attack phase and wished I'd found your page sooner. I have lost 2.5Kgs so far without exercies (foot injury) so am happy considering that. I'd like to say thank you to Jennalee as well, can't wait to try her garlic prawns recipe.
Hi Amber,
I read on another website thats its OK to drink coke zero. Im on day 3 of attack phase and doing well, was down 3lb this morning. Im just concerned that if I go out for a night i won't know what to drink. I was thinking maybe vodka and sprite zero?
Useful and effective method to lose weight, but as a long term lifestyle choice I'm not so sure.
Monitoring carb and refined sugar intake along with a regular exercise routine when a target weight is reached would be much more preferential....... for me any way.
Quick question about the 'yummy Dukan dessert', how long is it supposed to be in the fridge to set? Mine is still pretty runny and it's been in there about 3-4 hours.
It looked thick, but I dont think it was thickening at all. Maybe I had the milk to warm?
Weird... I followed the instructions but mine just refused to thicken. Maybe I'll try again and cross my fingers this time LOL
this may sound just wrong but im contemplating starting this diet but as im in real need to lose atleast 7 kgs in the next week for a job requirement ..... would there be any benefit or risk in doing the attack phase and taking fatblaster or something like that at the same time.... i really am desperate ..... i dont drink alcohole or tea or coffee and have already cut out fizzy drink.... i dont like any kind of dairy except Romano cheese but i have cut that out as well since last friday.... i do drink about 3 to 4 liters of water per day and always have.... i was shocked today to find that i have actually put on even more weight in the last 3day....i am 45 years old and have never been over 100kg untill today... now 103kg... i just dont get it ....my cloths still fit the same as they did 2 months ago at 93kgs.. i wear a size 16 jeans and an 18 top....and most people are shocked when i tell them how heavy i am.... apparently i dont look it so iv been told... i have started pre menopause if any1 has any ideas please help me.... i walk every day .... and have lost over 26 kgs about 7 years ago.... but it has slowly crept back on and more.. :( i am feeling really lost right now
hi amber ive heard about this diet and from tuesday im going to start it because im over weight and i cant wait to loose atleast 20 pounds from 155 pounds that i am im very scared that i do all of this for nothing but i guess so many people cant be wrong.
Began dukan 7 days ago as attempt to ease IBS,results have been amazing so far! Attack phase for two days as weigh 9 st so weight loss not primary reason for diet.
Tucking into loads of allowed veg on PV days and oat bran+ plenty of water has eliminated risks of constipation so far.I have really noticed increased energy and no more bloating/stomach cramps I suffered in the evenings.
im nervous lol this is my first day wish me luck!
hi just want to know if frozen yogurt from those machines at ice-cream shops allowed?
l believe they are 99% fat free. :)
thanks for that. l will look for other types of yogurt, does the greek yogurt have to be fat free or can it be low fat. What shall l look for as it is very hard in melbourne, not much choices and l cant find the sugar free cocoa either. any suggestions would be great.thanking you again Pauline :)
Hi Amber, I hope you could give me some advice if you may please? I am on day three of the attack phase and have not dropped even 1 pound. Which is very disheartening. I have been drinking cups of lemon and ginger tea (Twinnings). I would often have a glass of wine during the day at work and without fail a few more glasses in the evening at home. So drinking Twinnings is my alternative, could this be the reason behind this? I drink well over 1.5 lts of water a day, whether dieting or not as I don't drink tea or coffee. I also have been eating one pot Yeo Valley fat free yogurt (vanilla of natural) and including my oat bran in my evening bowl before bed. I am right in thinking that you would advise to eat the oat bran in the evening? Sorry, but I have looked at so much advise and comments, it can be quite confusing. I restricted to the amounts of yogurt I should be eating? Sorry about so many questions and I thank you in advance :0)
Hi Amber,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
I live in London so it is certainly not a hot climate to live in :0) I am relieved it is not the Twinnings because drinking that is certainly a healthier option to wine!
I am really angry with myself for eating the wrong type of yogurt. The front of the carton states 0% fat which is obviously very misleading unless you really know what you are looking for. Are there any yogurts natural or flavoured that you would recommend for me please? I don’t mind the natural flavour as I add my oat bran to this in the evening. I have just bought some wheat bran today to help move nature on so to speak which I have got ready to put into my vanilla yogurt. I think I will give that idea a miss now.
Thank you so much once again :0)
Angela
hi amber, i didnt find oat bran in the stores, can i used regular white bran
When I make a recipe called for cocoa. Many are sold unsweetened. But it still has some fat in it? How is it allowed?
Thanks for the amazing support!!! Keep it up:)
Thanks for your answer!
How come cornstarch that are used in recipes only allowed on Protein Day and not on PP + Vegetable Cruise day?

This is an interesting and short term you can do most anything but I don't think it would be healthy long term. Its great you found a hot chocolate for the diet as I wouldn't have expected that.
